The theatre track encourages participants to learn to love and serve each other whilst growing in their skills as actors, directors, and writers of theatre. This is achieved through studying texts of plays, learning scene analysis, the memorisation of monologues and creation of character. Past internships and DTSs have had focuses on improvisation and spoken-word performance, as well.
The theatre track works in conjunction with other tracks, especially with musicians, fashion designers, dancers, and writers. While the world of theatre can be a competitive, lonely world, we strive to learn how to be a part of a family.
So if you want to learn how to use the skills and talents that God gave you in theatre, and if you are willing to work with others to create productions and pieces that can show another way of thinking to the people of London and Europe, come join us!
Please send a portfolio alongside your application to help us see your style and get an idea of how we can best work together in this track.
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTION
Performance art is a strong weapon in our fight as God's army because when we perform, it doesn’t touch the logical parts of a person's mind, but rather it passes the mind and touches the heart. Performative art can challenge and transform the audience . . . even more so when it’s done with the power of the Holy Spirit. As artists in the field of performance, whether as actors, directors, production managers, or stage managers, we can use our prophetic gifts to bring unity and express God’s light within the world of performance and production.
If your focus is in performance, during ministry time we will study different scripts, dive into acting theory, as well as be introduced to the world of devised experimental theatre. You will gain an understanding of creating original performances and characters though acting and movement based workshops which will set you up for devising original pieces for your programme’s exhibition.
If your focus is in production, we will learn the ins-and-outs of how a production is put on from beginning to end. Beginning with how to run production meetings, speaking with designers, and planning out schedules, to studying cue sheets and assisting in your programme’s final exhibition.
Please send a performance portfolio, reel, or resume alongside your application to help us get an idea of how we can best work together in this ministry!
